Birtherism
Birtherism or the Birther Movement is a conspiracy theory that claims that former President Barack Obama was not born in the United States and is ineligible to serve as president.
The conspiracy theory questioning President Obama’s birthplace has persisted long after Obama’s presidency has ended, despite the fact that there was never any credible evidence that Obama was not born in Hawaii.
In fact, Obama released both long-form and short-form versions of his Hawaiian birth certificate to the public. However, many people, including Republican members of Congress and President Trump himself, have supported the birther movement and questioned Obama’s legitimacy.
Supporters of the conspiracy theory are often called “birthers.”
