Known Traveler Number (KTN)

A Known Traveler Number (KTN) is a nine-digit membership number, usually beginning with 98, from a Trusted Traveler Program (TTP). TTP membership grants you access to TSA PreCheck Global Entry lines at airports.

Trusted Traveler Programs are managed by the Department of Homeland Security, and offer expedited re-entry to the U.S. and airport security processing to pre-screened, pre-authorized individuals. TTP include:

  • Global Entry
  • NEXUS
  • SENTRI
  • TSA PreCheck (for travel within the U.S.)

If you belong to the Global Entry, NEXUS, or SENTRI programs, you can find your KTN on the backside of your membership card.

However, to find your KTN if you belong to the TSA PreCheck program, you must log in to your account on the Trusted Traveler Program website and look for your PASS ID number. If you’ve lost your Global Entry, NEXUS, or SENTRI card, you can find your KTN number there as well.

When booking a flight, there is typically a place to enter your KTN or PASS ID number, to ensure that you get access to the fast lanes.
